Jonathan (Jon) captained his school team (Framlingham College) at Bisley in 1962, but then joined the RAF as a pilot and did not return to shooting until 2008 aged 64 when he was grounded by the medics for a mild heart condition (his wife, Brenda, said she didn’t know he had a heart)! He has toured 5 times to South Africa with the RAF Target Rifle Club and has once visited Kenya when he landed a Canberra at Moi Air Base (then known as KAF Eastleigh) in 1968. He has shot regularly for Suffolk (both fullbore and smallbore) and shot his first Imperial in 2013. He has enjoyed the ups and downs, (but not the left and rights!) at Bisley reaching the final of the Queen’s Prize on 3 occasions and finishing twice in the top 100 of the Grand. He is very proud to have been selected as a member of the England Team as a new cap at a relatively senior age. Jon is still a keen skier and enjoys walking his Labrador, Harry, in the Suffolk countryside – Covid-19 permitting!
