Firstly, we must apologise for being a little behind with the Diary, but your incoming SA diarist has been a little…… ‘indisposed’ for a couple of days. However, two of his fellow Old Framlinghamian Rifle Club members in the GB Veterans Team, very thoughtfully provided him with a new plotting stool! Photo in the gallery below.

Thursday was a very full practice day with individual shoots at 300 and 800m, and coached shoots at 700 and 900m, giving us a good opportunity to ‘sample’ the challenging Bloemfontein winds and establish zeros. With 7 members of the squad having moved across to the GB Team, but with us now having been joined by Harriet  Bramwell and Roo Dix it was good for the new coaches to cut their teeth on the testing ever changeable winds of the General De Wet Range.

Captain Turbo (AKA ‘Trigger’) was in action as a most considerate Captain of the GB Team had brought a spare trigger with him. After a very full day on the range we enjoyed a swift ‘Sundowners’ close to the pool before a large group went to have a great meal at the Ocean Basket.

So after a very full day in all respects,  it was early (?) to bed ready for a crack of sparrows (albeit a different and far noisier dawn chorus in Africa) start on Friday for the Frees Sate Open Competition.
