Archie began his shooting journey at RGS Guildford back when Adam and the Ants topped the charts and the UK had only three TV channels (the early 1980s for those born after the millennium). He progressed from smallbore to fullbore at the age of 13, with a Lee Enfield No. 4 rifle—yes, the classic from WWII—as his first. After representing his school, he went on to compete for junior international and university teams before joining the Old Guildfordians Rifle Club, which he later captained for many years.

In 2004, Archie returned to RGS Guildford as a coach for both smallbore and fullbore shooting, a role he continues to enjoy. His senior international career began in 2010 following an NRA Channel Islands tour the previous year, and since then he has represented England and Great Britain on multiple tours (2010, 2014, 2019, 2023). He also contributes as a coach for the England Lions development squad.

Archie uses his wealth of experience to devise ever more creative excuses for the occasional dropped point, and his goals for this tour are simple: to shoot well, entertain teammates and locals alike, and “chill in a totally tropical way.
