Matthew earns his first England touring cap as the youngest member of the team, at the ripe old age of 21. He first picked up a rifle at Bradfield College in 2017 after begging his teachers to let him, because he “really wanted to shoot a gun”. He happened to be fairly adequate with a rifle, and since then has toured to Jersey with the Athelings in 2022, captained the Bradfield team to an Ashburton victory in the same year, toured to Guernsey with GBU19 in 2023, made his England debut in the National in 2024, finished 25th in the Grand Aggregate, won the Scottish U25 Open, and revisited the Channel Islands with the NRA team in 2025.
By the time you are reading this, he will have *hopefully* completed his Film and Television Production Degree at the University of York, and will be most likely on the job hunt for something media-related. When not at Bisley, Matthew spends a rather sad amount of time playing video games with his friends, and also enjoys bouldering – the closest he really gets to a “gym” – playing guitar and bass, and occasionally presenting shows at his university radio station. He is a keen darts player (the operative word being “keen”, not “good”), and “competes” at the university level. Matthew will also be touring with GBU25 to compete in Australia later this year.
