In a gesture of gratitude to those who stand behind them, the England shooting team opened the gates of Bisley Shooting Grounds this past weekend for a Friends and Family Day.

Under clear skies and warm sunshine, around 30 guests were introduced to the sport across three disciplines. On the historic Winnans range, participants tested their skills with Gallery Rifle, before stepping up to 600 yards for the precision of Target Rifle, and then facing the challenge of timed shooting at 100 yards. While the day carried a friendly spirit, a competitive edge was never far from the trigger.

While many of those taking part had never handled a centrefire rifle before, the standard on display was strikingly high, with several newcomers producing scores that would not have looked out of place in seasoned competition.

Once the ammunition was expended, the group gathered at Hoglees Hall, where sandwiches, tea, and hard-earned medals awaited. Prepared by the team and their families, the closing reception provided the finish to a great day that celebrated not only marksmanship, but also the community that sustains it.

A huge thank-you to everyone came along, both to shoot, support and help us run the day!
