Andy (aka. ‘Turbo’) began his shooting career in 1981 at Bedford School under the instruction of Tim Elliott. During the intervening years he has had a sprinkling of individual successes having won the Donaldson Memorial, Wimbledon, LMRA Open, and Stickledown twice. He has previously toured with Great Britain rifle teams to South Africa and Canada, as well as representing England in both the National and Lawrence matches. This will be Turbo’s second trip to the West Indies, the first being over 20 years ago with the London & Middlesex Rifle Association team in 1994. Having roomed with Dick Winney the first time around, he was pleasantly surprised to have been allowed on this tour! Since then he has been looking forward to a return trip to sample once again the warm and genuine hospitality, sun, sea, sand and, of course, rum. Work, family and finances prevented this to date, though rumour has it that sufficient time has now elapsed to lift the restraining orders!
Turbo is the long-suffering secretary of the Bedfordians Rifle Club, a job he describes as “like trying to herd cats…” When not trying to organise the Bedfordians, he shoots for Hertfordshire for a modicum of peace and order in his shooting. A keen fisherman when away from the range, Andy works as an IT Business Partner for a pharmaceutical company and is married with two daughters, who keep Dad’s Taxi service running 24/7.
