Andy started shooting smallbore at prep school in 1974, taking up fullbore at Rugby School as part of the Cadet Force, entering his first Imperial Meeting in 1981 (and every year since). He has represented Hertfordshire regularly since 1994 and is their current Vice-Captain, with England representations in the National and Mackinnon Matches. First touring with the 1995 NRA Team to the Channel Islands, Andy caught the bug late; making up for lost time, he rediscovered the pleasures of touring with the 2012 Great Britain team to Canada & USA, 2013 England team to South Africa and the 2015 British Commonwealth Goodwill Team to USA. With a smattering of Queens and St Georges Finals appearances and two top-50 Grand Aggregate finishes, along with occasional flashes of talent in other competitions, performance recently improved dramatically when he found that a new barrel and being able to see the aiming mark really do help!
A biochemist by training, Andy is now an IT Infrastructure Consultant and Company Director, and lives in Bedfordshire with his partner, Donna, and 15 year old son, Harrison. Away from the ranges, Andy enjoys skiing, golf (with a wicked slice), DIY and off-road driving. He is also a qualified light helicopter pilot, although being an even dearer hobby than shooting he rarely gets to play, so enjoys the less costly alternative of flying the radio-controlled versions.
