Another team birthday! Parents were obviously quite busy in December in years gone by.
Today’s birthday girl is Ellie “Fit” Hoolahan, who is enough of a lady to not make team management feel too ancient by letting us know what year her parents were busy.
A fairly relaxed morning – a “Hut” party led by Nigel Ball the Sailor went to the range and set up the classroom issued to us for use during the DCRA meeting. Having had extensive experience, Nigel was able to get everything organised with precision. This time, no fuses were blown – after all Charles “Sparky” Brooks is not with us this time!
Whilst Nigel and his team were working their magic, delegations went into Ottawa for “shopping” and a detachment visited “Cabela’s” an enormous Huntin’, Fishin’ ‘n Shootin’ emporium. Now your diarist has spent many happy hours by himself in similar places over many years. He was very happy to be accompanied by like minded team members for once. All exclaiming over the good value of cleaning fluid, electronic earmuffs and various items of reloading equipment.
The team had a relaxed afternoon before assembling back at the range for our first shoot at Connaught, The Ottawa Regiment, 2 sighters and 15 to count at 800 metres. It really was an idyllic evening, benign conditions with the early part of a glorious sunset.
High scores were the order of the day. The whole team scoring at least 74 points. Paul Wheeler and Jon Underwood both scored 75.14 and will be in a tie shoot later in the week.
It should be noted that “The Management”, scored between them, a total of 3 points on their first sighter. Professional.
