Bright eyed and bushy tailed, we gathered at the Surrey at 0730, poised and anticipating a bit of packing , a bit of breakfast and an expeditious journey to Heathrow.

Our splendid transport appeared on time, ready to spirit us on our journey. A coach of impressive length that the driver managed to park outside the Club.

Waved away by Matty Ensor and ……,  we set off….. backwards, past the NRA pavilion before then driving forwards onto Exhibition Lawn. Once there we thought we would just turn through 180º and travel forwards! But no, we soon found ourselves in reverse once more, this time towards the Gresham’s Hut. By now, various giggles were breaking out before finally setting off to our destination.

Once at Heathrow, all went well, Air Canada were ready for us even though we had to open all the rifle boxes for “Border Force”. We even had time for a spot of lunch.

The flight left on time and our sweet little twin engined Airbus duly arrived in Montreal on schedule at 1635 local time.

Customs were kind and actually very pleasant.

We arrived at Budget Rent a Car at 1830. At the time of writing it is now 2030 local time and we still await our vans. Budget by name Budget by brain. Peanuts and Monkeys come to mind.

My Captain has observed that the previous comment is unfair to Monkeys!

2300 hours Montreal time – 0400 BST.

The final van was made available to us at 2145 – a mere 3 hours and fifteen minutes after our arrival to collect vehicles booked a some 5 months ago. A 40 minute drive was all it then took for the 5 remaining team members to reach our accommodation for the night.

Our Captain has been busy scribing in his “fines” book. The team can hardly wait to discover what heinous crimes they are to be falsely accused of, and of course what the penalties will be.

Breakfast at 0700, then off to Quebec.

Knackered.

ZZZZ

The long wait
