Assembly was at 0800 for departure at 0820 back to the base at Valcartier to attempt a prison break for our rifles and kit. The escape bid was successful and we anticipate a complete series of home runs. The Military Police who had kindly stored our kit in their cells were duly sincerely thanked before the buses all dispersed in different directions in order to avoid pursuit. Some routed south of the St Lawrence whilst the Captain and Vice successfully used the northern route to Ottawa arriving before the rest of the team.
Whilst the rest of us settled in to the familiar Best Western hotel at Bell’s Corner, the Captain and Vice, accompanied by Archie and Jeremy popped over to the airport to pick up ammunition that had arrived the previous day. Unfortunately, they hadn’t reckoned on Canadian Customs who shut up shop at 1630 hours! We will try again early tomorrow morning.
It should be noted that Turbo has had his second non alcoholic drink of the tour. We suspect it was by accident! He soon rectified this later, with the younger members of the team enjoying a Long Island or two…
