“Ellie, are you going for a swim?”
“You must be joking – and get bitten by something else?!!”
Ellie “Fit” Hoolahan has unfortunately been found rather toothsome by some of the Canadian insects, which are many, varied and ever eager to seek an opportunity to feed.
On our second “R ‘n R” day the Adj. presented us with various options for “trips out”, our choices were for Whale watching, The Citadel (Heights of Abraham, Wolfe v Montcalm etc.) or the Chute de Montmorency (Waterfall), where zip lining and the Via Ferrata (rock climbing) featured.
The team unanimously chose to visit the waterfall, only about 15 minutes East of the City.
Once there, one group chose to climb a lot of stairs, whilst the other lot chose to take a cable car up the cliff. Interestingly, thoughts of who would be in which group were not necessarily correct – activities the previous evening no doubt having an effect.
On reaching the top of the cliff, the cable car party found the climb had brought on a thirst which was only to be quenched with beer. This group numbered five to begin with but it wasn’t long before the number doubled.
The more athletic and less hungover team members headed for the zip line queue, even though early in the day, they still waited for an hour, but were greeted by spectacular views during their time on the zip line.
Our Captain was soon to be seen making like a mountain goat as he almost flew up the vertical cliff face of Via Ferrata, hotly pursued by Jemima (Ginger Ninja) Hince.
Not letting the grass grow under his feet, David (Daz) Nuthall took a van and a couple of the girls out to a State Park to see if the could see any bears, they think they saw a beaver and no one got eaten.
