Anyone waking up this morning will be forgiven for thinking that it was 2014 all over again as England’s David Luckman and Parag Patel won Gold and Bronze in the final of the individual Fullbore Queens Prize event. As is tradition and a mark of true sportsmanship that is synonymous with our sport, David was chaired off the range by his fellow competitors which has been highlighted on the BBC Sport website. The final results are listed below and can be found here.
1st David Luckman England 404.49v
2nd Jim Bailey Australia 403.50v
3rd Parag Patel England 403.45v
Coupled with David and Parag’s success in winning Gold in the pairs event this marks the end of a truly fantastic commonwealth games for English Fullbore shooting. For David this is his 4th gold medal from just two Commonwealth Games while Parag has now achieved 8 medals from his four games, medaling in every Commonwealth Games event he has entered. Some credit must also go to their team manager Jeremy Langley and the selection team here in the UK who’s training program and selection criteria have been proven to deliver medal winning results for England time after time.
Finally a big thank you must go to the Barry Buddon Brisbane Broadcasting Corporation who’s team of volunteers have filled the void left by the mainstream media in covering the Fullbore events at the last two Commonwealth Games. They have kept us enthralled and on the edge of our seats.
