The Spring Meeting is the Club’s annual open meeting held over the late May bank holiday weekend each year. It consists of a series of individual competitions spread over the three days with prizes available for each competition as well as various aggregates and the Grand Aggregate. It is regularly attended by 100 or more competitors, many of whom are top performing shooters hoping to get into England teams for the National and Mackinnon matches later in the year. Covering all distances and often with a mix of weather conditions, it provides a good test and is great preparation for the NRA’s main Imperial Meeting in July.
The competition is open to all and is available to both Target Rifle and F-class competitors. The typical program each year is as shown below.

In memory of our late Vice-President, N E C (Ted) Molyneux, a trophy was donated to the Club in 2022 to be known as The Molyneux Bowl. This will be awarded annually to the individual competing at the EXXC Spring Meeting with the highest aggregate at 300 yards, together with the 1000 yards score. As the competitions use the same course of fire as the Sovereign’s Prize, this gives a maximum possible score of 160 (35 + 50 +75). The first winner of this trophy is John Warburton pictured below having scored 35.6, 48.3 and 74.7 for a total of 157.16. John won again n 2024. 2024 Spring Meeting – The Molyneux Bowl
